Box Stalls: Outdoor Activities

Monthly Option

Winter Or Summer

You select the months you want your horse to be brought into a box stall on a daily basis, during the night in winter and during the day in summer.

You can also can select as few or as many months as you like and still be assured that your horse's stall will be available

Some horses prefer a stall, despite being retired for years, while other horses want nothing to do with one -- other than to come in and eat their feed.

Stalls are billed on a monthly basis paid in advance.

Daily Option

During Severe Weather

This option assures you that during severe weather your horse will be snug in their stall during a winter snow storm or enjoying the cooling breeze of their own personal fan during warm weather.

Stalls are billed on a day rate for this option.

When the Vet Orders Rest

Our 12' x 16' box stall has two features for a horse that is on stall rest or is having a health issue. There is an Observation Window in the Tack Room that allows observation without disturbing the horse.

The stall also has a solid wood Dutch Door and a separate steel grill Dutch Door, which allows both wooden doors to be opened for full cross ventilation and providing the stabled horse with additional visibility.

Box Stalls

At Orchard Equine Retirement, our horse retirement farm features nine box stalls, with six offering a 12' by 11' space for your horse. We also offer an expansive 12' by 16' stall with an Observation Window and Dutch Door to the outside, plus two 12' by 12' stalls that provide a Bale Door Window for your horse to chat with their buddies.

The Lower Barn box stalls have southern yellow pine tongue and groove stall fronts with grills. Side stall walls are 1" oak board. Three stalls have sliding doors with solid bottom half with grill and three stalls have stall gates.

Bedding & Cleaning

Stalls are cleaned one to two times daily, depending on the length of time the horse is stabled. We also pick our stalls throughout the day.

Shavings are utilized in all stalls for absorption of urine.

Horses who tend to be "messy" in stalls have shavings to absorb their  urine and straw for their main bedding.

Watering

One to two five gallon buckets are provided to stabled horses depending on their drinking habits. Heated buckets utilized in winter.

Reserve Your Horse's Retirement Today

Peace of Mind is Priceless.

At Orchard Equine Retirement we have been providing Full Care Horse Retirement since 1988. We know that retiring horses is so much more than turning a horse out in a pasture.

Much more.  We understand and respect the special relationship owners have with their horses. We understand how difficult it is to separate from your partner and friend.

We've been there. Lying awake at night wondering if they are being fed properly. If they are standing out in the weather, or are they comfortable inside their box stall or run in shed with their buddies.

It is that very relationship with a horse named Prince and the failed search for a horse retirement farm where he could safely retire, that inspires us to this day.

We look forward to discussing the retirement you want for your horse. Please include your horse's name in your message!

Our Rates

We offer flat rate and itemized billing. Clients choose which method best suits their horse's needs and their preferences. Call or send a message to reserve your horse's retirement at the farm that continues to set the standard in horse retirement.

Sincerely,

Christine, Jack, and Sarah
